Digest

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s.

  • You'll switch between technical work, analysis, and exchanges, all of which are fast-paced.

  • You collaborate with various profiles: people from marketing, UX, the cloud, and more.

  • You learn as fast as technologies evolve.

  • You work as part of a team, all the time.

What's your day like regarding technical work, analysis and presentation?

Building a dashboard in the morning. A team presentation in the afternoon. That's a good picture of the reality of a data analyst's day. Of course, topics change and uses evolve. But your constant task is to make sense of the data. At Orange, this is key: you alternate between modelling, visualisation, exchanges and documentation. And all in the same day.

Do you spend your days coding or collaborating?

A Python script at 10 am, a team meeting at 11 am: you’ll do both at Orange. You code to make data talk. You collaborate to get your message across.

That's what a typical data analyst's day is all about: a balance between personal reflection and cooperation.

"Today, I'm working on a Python script to automate data retrieval. When I get stuck on my script, I call my colleague Nicolas to ask for a helping hand. At the same time, I'm starting to create a dashboard to visualise that data. I particularly enjoy this aspect of my work; it allows me to be creative." - Loredana, Data analyst, Orange Graduate Programme.

Do you work alone or as part of a team?

At Orange, you're supported. Every data analyst works in a team. There are many points of contact: a customer, a UX designer, a network expert. You move forward together. And that changes everything.

“During the daily team meeting, we analyse the current situation following the Agile method, and discuss what we plan to do today. We discuss any problem we may encounter."
- Loredana, Data analyst, Orange Graduate Programme.

What is a typical meeting like for a data analyst?

It all depends on what's at stake. The process isn’t the same for the daily team meeting as it would be for the annual strategy one, and you'll be taking part in various meetings at Orange.

But they all have one thing in common: discussing what's been done, what still needs to be done, and what's getting in the way. It’s about speaking, listening, and contributing.

Can you benefit from continuing education?

Yes, and we even encourage it. You gain expertise through specialised training in the tools and technologies of your field. But it goes further: soft skills, in-house training on generative AI, a Cloud bootcamp... You can also develop your cross-disciplinary skills, according to your needs and at your own pace.

"I like to devote part of my day to learning new technologies. Right now, I'm taking a course about the Google Cloud platform on Coursera to strengthen my skills. And once a week, I attend a French class, where we focus on conversation and vocabulary enrichment." - Loredana, Data analyst, Orange Graduate Programme.
