Six things a recruiter expects of you during your Orange job interview

A job interview is an important moment. A moment when you give meaning to your career path, where you explain what motivates you and what you want to achieve at Orange.

So, how do you prepare and succeed in this step? Here are our recruiters' expectations for your job interview: advice, examples, and techniques. Everything you need to be ready for the big day.

Digest

• Prepare for the interview and ask specific questions
• Give practical examples of situations you’ve experienced
• Be mindful of your body language and soft skills
• Show that you can see yourself doing this job

1. Once you’ve prepared the interview

For example, start your interview by saying, “I watched your video about cybersecurity at Orange. I learnt a lot, but I still have a couple of questions for you.” This is what matters: getting to grips with the job offer, digging deeper, and showing up with questions.

Surprise us with your curiosity, so we’ll know how motivated you are.

Bruno – Recruiting consultant:

"I expect you to dig into the ad first. Take the time to research, especially on YouTube, where you'll find a goldmine of information on our careers. You can also contact professionals on LinkedIn. It's a great way to demonstrate your curiosity and proactivity. Of course, the interview is also designed for you to ask questions; you don't have to know everything."

2. Tell us about your experiences, not just your CV

In interviews, we want to hear your stories. For example, “On my last project, this is what I improvised when a customer backed out on us at the last minute”.

We're interested in what you did and when, why you did it, and what you've learned from it for the future.

We've already read and selected your CV. During your interview, let us discover more about your career path

3. Show the value you bring to Orange

What we look for in a job interview is a sense of what you bring to the table. For example, a candidate explaining how their experience in logistics could speed up our in-store flows. You can’t argue against that.

It is important to show that you understand the job and what you'll be doing with it from your first day at Orange.

Bruno – Recruiting consultant:
“I need to know how the candidates can see themselves occupying this role and what motivates them. Do they understand what's expected of them, and do they want to do it? Here, you detail the skills you think you can bring to Orange. When a candidate has understood why this position is important for Orange, they have understood everything!”

4. Mind your body language

Eye contact, focus, posture.. Simple things, but these are the first things we notice. At Orange, we want to hire people whose values align with our own. We’re careful to see how you act and how determined and authentic you are.

But there’s no need to play a role. You’ve already got what it
takes. Let your soft skills set you apart.

5. Get comfortable during our chat

A good interview is a discussion. When we talk, our goal is to make you feel at ease. So smile, rephrase a question, and pause - 2 seconds - before answering. The more relaxed you are, the more we understand each other, and the better we can support your application.

6. Show that you want to continue with us

To do so, ask questions. “What are the team's priorities over the next few months?”, “How can I contribute to your Data community?”, “How is customer service quality measured?” Then we'll know you're planning ahead. That's what we're looking for during your interview: a desire to act, the attitude belonging to a future colleague.
