Q&A

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s.

Jérôme, director of the software division, information systems department at Orange France and point of contact of the “Orange Expert Software” community:

"When we write code and it gets deployed at Orange, it impacts millions of customers. That adds a particular challenge and meaning to our work.

Because we are a high-tech company competing with global players and partnering with some of the biggest names in the world, we constantly test and implement new technologies like cloud, big data, or machine learning.

And because we are a large company with investment in our DNA, we have the means to do it."

Pierre-Yves, mobile application developer at Orange:

"Openness is encouraged, so if you’re curious and enjoy exploring, there’s never a dull moment from a development perspective!

At Orange, I can attend major conference days around the country, like a DevFest in Toulouse. I also led a technical conference on Kotlin in Strasbourg. Within the group, we hold similar internal conferences. We recently held a two-day event in Toulouse for all of France, focused on Android and iOS development. And just yesterday, in Pessac, I gave a presentation on open source: how to contribute, what it involves, and more.

Sometimes, we meet passionate colleagues on the other side of the country by helping organise external conferences or running associations like Google Developers Groups."

Kylian, development and production engineer at Orange Business:

"What I enjoy at Orange is working with cutting-edge, state-of-the-art technologies.

My tasks are varied: I work on prototypes, mentor junior developers, and give demos of applications in progress to client companies. There are some exciting technical challenges to tackle."

Céline, head of software careers training at Orange:

"First, it’s entirely possible to build part or even all of your career within software development, at the heart of the technical field. We gain diverse experiences, keep learning, and never get bored. It also allows us to take on responsibilities and expand our influence through different expert tracks.

Beyond that, you can pursue other paths. You could move into people or project management, become an architect, or even completely change careers, such as sales or HR."
