Purpose of the job
A Data Modeler will facilitate the creation of Logical Data Models using normalized (3NF), and some Physical Model dimensional structures to support Enterprise Data Analytics and decision-making. The Data Modeler enforces architectural standards and logical modeling best practices by conducting modeling sessions with IT and business groups from all areas of the Enterprise, defining and documenting business definitions and relationships for Enterprise data.
Duties and responsibilities
- Create Logical and Physical data models using Embarcadero ER/Studio, employing IDEF1X specification and 3rd Normal Form for OLAP and OLTP systems.
- Provide and enforce best practices and governance standards, normalization, data classification, quality data solutions for Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Conduct modeling sessions with project teams across all business groups, gather and define data requirements for Enterprise Data Model.
- Lead discussion with stakeholders designed to transform Subscriber Data Requirements(SDR) into a logical model with clearly-written business definitions for logical entities and attributes data in a way that is consumable by a wide business audience.
- Enforce architectural standards and train Developers, Technical Leads, Project Managers, and Systems Analysts regarding best practices for Enterprise Data Warehouse Design.
- Perform light Data Analysis, Data Profiling using SQL queries on the metadata as needed.
Job specification
Education
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
Experience.
- Minimum 1 - 2 Years Experience In data modeling , statistical analysis, data manipulation.
Skills and abilities
- Working knowledge ER/Studio , Teradata , SQL.
- experience writing business definitions and logical models in third-normal form
- ability to grasp concepts quickly.
- knowledgeable in Inmon and Kimball approaches to Data Warehouse and Data Mart architecture
