Twoja rola
The upcoming generation of mobile networks must support the smooth functioning of Industrial IoT (IIoT) systems, such as the real-time control of machinery, the distributed sensing and decision-making of autonomous vehicles, and robot collaboration, all while being energy-sober. Achieving this goal requires the development of a purpose-driven communications framework that enables the integrated management of both the wireless network and IIoT applications.
This postdoctoral research will focus on developing and optimizing a goal-oriented communications paradigm that ensures efficient resource allocation and adaptive traffic management, thereby enhancing sustainability and performance in industrial environments [1-2]. The objective is to design algorithms for the network controller that, being aware of the application goals, can optimally schedule and allocate resources. This involves selectively sampling data sources that have the highest impact on achieving the application goals. Techniques such as reinforcement learning and optimization theory will be used to develop these algorithms.
A key aspect of the research is to establish a coordinated decision-making framework between the network and application controllers. This will optimize resource allocation and application performance, ensuring that both controllers share and utilize relevant information effectively. Finally, the algorithms and mechanisms developed will be tested in lab environments to simulate low-speed vehicles in industrial settings.
Through this work, the postdoc will introduce innovative algorithms for goal-oriented network control, contributing to the efficiency and sustainability of industrial 6G networks. The implementation and testing of these solutions on a testbed composed of remotely controlled vehicles will validate their practical viability and effectiveness.
This postdoctoral research will play a crucial role in advancing the state-of-the-art in goal-oriented communications, specifically tailored for industrial 6G networks. By focusing on joint network and application optimization, adaptive traffic management, and scalable solutions, the research will contribute to the sustainability and performance of IIoT applications in industrial environments. The outcomes of this research will have significant implications for the future of industrial communications, paving the way for more efficient and goal-oriented 6G networks.
